A Letter from Father Paul

And God is able to provide you with

every blessing in abundance, so that by

always having enough of everything,

you may share abundantly in every

good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8, NRSV)

Dear Friends in Christ,

Jesus assures us, “In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.” (John 14:2, NRSV)

These words remind us that God’s abundance is spacious and generous. There is plenty

good room in God’s household for each of us. St. Paul also reminds us “God blesses us with

abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, we may share abundantly in

every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:8)

This year’s stewardship theme, Plenty Good Room, invites us to recognize the abundance

God has already entrusted to us. This is even more evident as we move into this next year as

we celebrate 40 years of ministry and mission at ECA. Even in uncertain times, we are called

to trust that there is enough: enough for our families, enough for our church, enough for our

neighbors. We will provide several opportunities to show this abundance of blessings God

has provided here at ECA with different events and outings to share in that abundance.

One way we live into this truth is by sharing our resources – our money, our time, and our

talents – for the mission and ministry of this congregation. These gifts support worship that

lifts our hearts, teaching that shapes disciples, fellowship that strengthens and transforms

our bonds, and outreach that embodies Christ’s love.

Over the next several weeks, you will hear from members in our parish about Plenty Good

Room and how our generosity makes a difference. Today I simply ask you to begin praying

with this theme, reflecting on the resources God has placed in your care, and considering

how you might share them joyfully in the year ahead.

Together, let us rejoice that there is always plenty good room in God’s house, and plenty

good work for us to do.

Faithfully,

Fr. Paul+, Rector

A Letter from the Senior Warden

 Dear Friends,

Jesus promises us, “In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places” (John 14:2). We believe this means that God’s love is wide enough to hold us all, and that we are bound together in holy community. I personally have seen this take place on many occasions over the years at ECA and my faith has been inspired by what I have witnessed. At ECA we have a beautiful piece of property and buildings we can come and gather for worship and to see this holy community in action. It takes a lot of resources to upkeep our buildings and property and your generous giving of your time, talent, and treasure yearly makes it possible to do so.

This year’s theme, Plenty Good Room, reminds us that stewardship is not only about financial and in-kind gifts. It is also about relationships – the ways we are connected to God, to one another, and to our neighbors. Since the beginning of this year, you will have noticed that some of our investors in ECA have been highlighted in our weekly bulletin to show the gifts we have in each other. These investors have given of their time, talent, and treasure to build their relationship with God, the ECA community, and our neighbors. There are many more investors not featured who continue to graciously give of their time, talent and treasure as well. If you are one of those, we sincerely thank you. We cannot do what we do without you! God sees the work we all do, and tells us there is plenty good room.

Our parish budget is just one way we tell the story of those relationships. Each pledge and gift sustains our common life: children growing in faith, neighbors receiving meals and care, worshippers being welcomed, friends finding hope, building our community of faith, and transforming lives. Our budget is more than numbers; it is a reflection of our values and our mission. Next year, ECA is celebrating 40 years of incredible ministry and mission, which has impacted many of us in tremendous ways. Every pledge and gift makes this possible.

Enclosed in this letter, you will find a pledge card to show your commitment to this year’s campaign. I invite you to consider the relationships that have sustained you in this church, and how your generosity can help extend that welcome to others. Please know that no matter what your contribution may be, it will continue to provide the opportunity for ALL to come to ECA and experience these words in Christ “so that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:4) as we worship and serve our community among one another.

There is, indeed, plenty good room in God’s house. Together, let us make room for one another.

In Christ’s service,

Matt Reaves
